Just got back from the dog park where Carla had a run-in with another dog. A 100lb Great Dane puppy to be exact. About twice Carla's weight and height.
They were both running towards something and collided -- the Great Dane ended up in a roll. They quickly recovered, but the mother of the Great Dane overreacted, as if he'd just been run over by a two ton truck and started coddling him like a toy poodle. If it had been possible to pick him up, swaddle him, and start making swooshing sounds, I'm sure she would have tried. Unfortunately, the Great Dane stood by her side and refused to play with the other dogs after that. Carla ran off as if nothing happened, retrieved her ball and was happier for it.
If the mother of the Great Dane hadn't reacted as she did would the Great Dane had known anything happened?
